NIST SP 800-53
Run the federal control catalog without a spreadsheet
Select your baseline, map NIST SP 800-53 controls to the work you already do, and keep implementation evidence current for your assessor.
What NIST SP 800-53 is
NIST Special Publication 800-53 is the catalog of security and privacy controls published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Revision 5 is the current version.
Controls are grouped into families such as access control, audit and accountability, and incident response. NIST SP 800-53B defines Low, Moderate, and High baselines that select controls by system impact.
Federal agencies apply it under FISMA, FedRAMP is built on it, and many private organizations adopt it voluntarily as a comprehensive control set.
Who needs NIST SP 800-53
You operate a system for a federal agency, you are working toward FedRAMP, or a customer or regulator has asked you to align with 800-53 controls.
How TrustLynce helps with NIST SP 800-53
Baseline selection
Start from the Low, Moderate, or High baseline and tailor it, with the reason for each change recorded.
Cross-framework mapping
Controls you already run for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 map to the 800-53 controls they satisfy.
Implementation statements
Describe how each control is implemented, kept next to the evidence that it operates.
Continuous evidence
Controls tested on a schedule, so an assessment reads your real posture rather than a prepared snapshot.
NIST SP 800-53 questions
Revision 5 is current. If a contract or authorization names an earlier revision, the contract is the authority.
800-53 is the full catalog for federal systems. 800-171 is a smaller set of requirements, derived from it, for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in nonfederal systems.
CSF is a high-level, voluntary framework for organizing a security program. 800-53 is a detailed control catalog that can be used to implement it.
No. Your assessor or authorizing body performs the assessment. TrustLynce keeps the controls and evidence ready for it.
